The comments on this recording hardly do it justice! It’s a remarkable compilation of Denis Murphy playing solo and with groups of musicians at a time, doing some really amazing things with the music. For Kerry-philes, the fourth track (slides) with Murphy and two accordions, will doubtless thrill; and the Green Cottage polka set is absolutely stunning. For Sligo fiddlers, it may be of note that on track 9, Murphy teams up with Andy McGann to tangle with the Mountain Road and the Dairymaid. And for a really amazing solo piece, the Turkey in the Straw will completely blow your mind the way Fisherman’s Hornpipe did on Star Above the Garter.

And in between Tarrant’s and the Blue Ribbon Denis played Julia Clifford’s: https://thesession.org/tunes/11314#setting23880 Setting 4 is after Denis’s fiddling.

FWIW Jackie Daly recorded the first two as the Glin Cottage polkas:

Last polka on track is similar to Newmarket but distinct.

Re: Music From Sliabh Luachra
Would anyone happen to have the track-by-track listing of the guest musicians? Just curious, would love to know who does what. Absolutely fabulous album.
