"Joe was born in Galway and raised in Clare. His love of music was evident at a very early age, as was his talent. He has dedicated this CD to his mother and father, Annie and Martin. With their love, persistence and encouragement he has become one of the world’s finest accordion players. He is most definitely a musician’s musician.

Since his arrival in Australia as an 18 year old in 1964, he has delighted audiences all over the country. He has played in sessions with numerous visiting musicians including The Dubliners, Martin Hayes, Matt Molloy, Altan, Jim Murray and Seamus Begley. To sit in on these sessions was to hear traditional music at it’s best.

In 1999 Joe returned to Ireland where he was in great demand. He toured in concert with Seamus Begley and made many television and radio appearances. The highlight of the tour for Joe was to be invited to appear on the Paddy O’Brien concert.

Word of this CD has delighted the many people who have been fortunate enough to listen to Joe at a session or a concert. As many have said, ‘It’s about time’

Joe has stated that the making of this CD would not have been possible without the love and support of his wife Jean and their children Anna, Patrick, Teresa, Geraldine, Amanada and Joanne.

Joe also thanks his brother John and Tommy Carty for backing him on several tracks, and all those who assisted in making this CD possible. Special thanks and appreciation goes to Greg Lamrock for his friendship and tireless effort."
