Essential album

Finally available: a CD of the playing of Bobby Casey, one of the true legends of the tradition. It’s been a long time coming, but it’s well worth the wait.

It consists of recordings made in 1966-67 by Bill Leader and Reg Hall.

I’ve been listening to this CD over the last week - it’s just dazzling playing. Hugely inventive, of course, but it’s music with real heart, and that has a strong sense of place.

Available at Copperplate - the page includes great photos and a link to an engaging essay on Casey by Kevin Crehan:

Maybe you could correct a couple of things in the contents. The last four tunes in track 8 must have been mis-formatted somehow. And it looks like Eileen Curran is misspelled as Curren both on the liner notes and here.

Bobby Casey: "The Spirit Of West Clare" [Bow Hand 003] Track 4

The track listing posted on Session.org lists the second tune on track 4 as "The Last House In Connaught". This is incorrect. He actually plays "My Love Is in America" - as the CD sleeve indicates correctly.

Magical

Bobby Casey track 6

Does anyone know the name of the single jig at track 6 on this recording?

sorry… track 5
