This is a terrific album--misters Molloy, Carty, and McGlynn cutting loose and having fun at Molloy’s pub (and in the studio on tracks 5, 6, and 11). The mix is natural, balanced, and clear as a bell. All the better to hear these lads play off one another.

You bet it’s released! Even in Montana USA we have our grubby hands on it!

This album is so good, words cannot fully describe it. In my opinion this is probably the best album of 2007. The tunes are just pure unadulterated tunes played by three of the best traditional musicians on the scene. The playing is clean and precise almost perfect this is a live album and you wouldn’t even know it if it weren’t for the applause after each track. What I am really saying is you should go buy this album asap because your music collection, hell your life isn’t complete without it.

The 3 maestros performed most of the album last night. Pity they didnt play Lord McDonalds, that’s one of the best tracks. Does anyone know the name of the McDonagh’s Salute tunes?

Still haven’t got any answers there, I think that Easter Snow as recorded on this album is the best slow air I have ever heard and definitely the best I’ve heard on flute

I asked John about McDonagh’s Salute - this is what he had to say:

"The reason we called them McDonagh’s Salute is because we had no name for them but the McDonagh brothers from Ballinafad, Co Sligo used to play them.

Matt personally recorded them playing these tunes in their house in the late 60s/ early 70s. I’ve never heard anyone else playing these settings but there are a few versions of the last one, John McHugh’s father used to play a version in G which he called the Adam and Eve Set which I recorded with AT the Racket."

Live at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum … gone.

Track nine has four tunes (jigs and slides). The third tune is similar to Lancer’s slide though I’m not 100% confident it’s the same tune. The fourth is Ganley’s From Breathnach Ceol Rince Na Heireann Vol 4. I couldn’t find it on this site. I’ll check some different keys and enter the tune and link it if nothing comes up.
