Willie Hunter & Violet Tulloch
18 tracks of the great Shetland fiddle player, accompanied by Violet Tulloch on piano. Recorded over a number of years in Lerwick. Traditional and new tunes including some of Willie’s own compositions, such as Cape Breton Fiddlers’ Welcome to Shetland which has become a standard
for Cape Breton Visit To Shetland (as listed on the CD) I’ve added the better-known title so that it links to the tune on here
I’ve seen the full title as <deep breath> "The Cape Breton Fiddlers’ Society’s Welcome To The Shetland Islands" 🙂
Also, The Centenary links to the jig of that name. The tune on the recording is in fact a hornpipe, not yet in the tune db.
Re: The Willie Hunter Sessions
""The Love o Da Isles" is a grand slow air, by Willie Hunter. Got this cd at The Reel music shop (also a café and music school) run by the Wrigley Sisters in Orkney. Hazel v. influenced by Peerie Willie Johnson She on guitar and keyboards.
