"The Lark in the Clear Air"
Just picked this up. A bit more of a classical interpretation of some familiar melodies. Here, Geraldine O’Grady plays violin and is accompanied by her daughter, Oonagh Keogh, (a member of the Irish Chamber Orchestra) also on violin, and Margaret O’Sullivan on piano.
Most of the trad. tunes are arranged by T.C.Kelly, with the exception of Track 1 by G. O’Connor and Morris, Tracks 2 &10 by Esposito, Track 7 by E. O’Gallagher and Track 19 by Herbert Hughes. Track 5 is two tunes penned by Phil Coulter of Derry and arr. by J. Tate. Track 16 was also arr. by J. Tate. The two O’Carolan tunes were arranged by O. Keogh.
Track 15, ‘My Mary of the Curling Hair’ was played by Geraldine on the soundtrack of the David Lean film "Ryan’s Daughter".
