I bought this years ago in Ireland as a cassette. It was issued in 1984, with Carl Hession on piano. I believe it was only ever available as a cassette from a GTD, a record company based in Galway

The tracks had many tune names missing. I have supplied the ones I know but I am terrible for tune names so if any one knows the missing names please let me know so I can alter the listing.

Oddly Marcus Hernon does not mention it on his web site.

Overall good playing but dreadful sound quality

Flute Geezer Tape

Was track 1 from this album in the flute geezer tape collection? If so, its mighty fine playing and is it completely unaccompanied by the way?

Not sure which collection 52Paddy is referring to but track 1 of this album is definitely accompanied by piano. I have heard that GTD had a habit of recording artists and then, unknown to them, altering the recordings by adding (often unnecessarily) backing tracks.

If anyone wants to unravel a bit of this history/mystery, it might be easier to ask Marcus Hernon, or Shawn Walsh (see below), but Marcus does mention this cassette on his website now (2021) with others, but as "out of print".

Cross referring to a possibly nearly complete listing of GTD’s cassette output (no dates available) at

they have these two
GTDH 031 Marcus Hernon – Traditional Irish Music Played on the Concert Flute
GTDH 097 P. J. and Marcus Hernon – The Floating Crowbar

I bought a copy of the "Traditional Irish Music Played on the Concert Flute" cassette in the Mulligan shop in Galway, I think, in 1993 or thereabouts. It has the same number GTDH 031 and incomplete listing as shown on the image Kenny has uploaded here (see above) but the same photo and printing is in colour (and the name of the boat in the pic is visible as "Cruagh Padraic", which may explain the "Cruaigh Pháraic" title given to the cassette on Marcus’s website). However, it does say "piano: Eugene Kelly", not Carl Hession.
Producer was Shawn Walsh, who appears to be behind the re-surfacing of GTD Heritage as Trad Ireland
