An Buachaill Dreoite - track 7 -- Killoran’s Reels -- Last Night’s Fun
Track 7 “Killoran’s Reels” starts with Last Night’s Fun.
Anyone know what the 2nd one is?
Ken
It’s ’The Wexford Lasses", listed here - https://thesession.org/tunes/721.
Brilliant!
Can t listen to joe s music enough. unbelievable! why have people stopped playing like this?
Ummm..
Not everybody has…personally I spend my playing hours trying to approach the elegant simplicity of musicians such as Joe Ryan. I suppose, however, that it’s less impressive than a lot of stuff you hear around the place, but much deeper in the long run…

Very pleased to be listening to this on Spotify right now. Is that an autoharp on track 1? First autoharp accompaniment of Irish fiddling I’ve heard - it works really nicely!
Can anyone tell me: did Joe Ryan always play at this lovely relaxed pace, or was he a bit faster when he was a young man?
Re: An Buachaill Dreoite
Track #6 is a very old Scottish Gaelic air from Perthshire, once recorded by “The Battlefield Band”. I’m very curious as to how it made its’ way into Joe’s repertoire. Could anyone who has the sleeve notes please have a look to see if any source is provided ? Many thanks.
