Description of CD

Dermot Grogan was a gifted and influential musician from the parish of Kilmovee, Co. Mayo who lived much of his life in Manchester, London and New York, and who passed away in 2006 aged forty-eight. Many of us in the New York area had the good fortune to enjoy his playing, company and friendship for a number of years. We are delighted to announce that a CD of Dermot’s playing is being released this week by his family and friends. As well as satifying the very necessary goal of getting Dermot’s music and style out into the wider world, this CD will also benefit the Mayo-Roscommon Hospice who provided care for him, as all proceeds will be donated to the their cancer research fund. The CD will be priced at $20 when purchased direct, as there will be a $20 donation to the fund per CD.

It features 21 tracks of Dermot’s solo playing on both flute and accordion. It has been compiled from different places and different times of Dermot’s life and is a high-quality product painstakingly and lovingly put together by Gregory Daly and Paul Waldron, in conjunction with Dermot’s sister Bridie and brother-in-law John Finan, with mastering by another of Dermot’s friends John Blake. It also includes a 16 page booklet about Dermot’s life and music.

Dermot was a lot of fun.
