The Turning Tide

Released in 2010

Boys of Malin

Solas plays the 1st & 3rd sections in A minor. It works quite well in the set.

The Crows of Killimer

I could not upload this slipjig because it is not in strict 9/8 rhythm, but here is my rendering of it. Although it could be forced into 9/9 time, I have notated it as Solas plays it. You should listen to the album for the timing and ornamentations. NOTE - In the 1st pass, Seamus Egan does not play the E3 in measure 4.

The Crow of Killimer - correction

oops, I just noticed that the " bae " in the A section should be " bag ". I’m sure y’ all would have figured that out.

The Crows of Killimer

I’ll get this abc-stuff yet … not bae … not bag … but baG

Trip to Kareol

This tune is in 13/8 (or perhaps 7/8 & 6/8). At any rate, this is the way Solas plays it. After the percussion break, the A part returns, but played a third lower and the regular A part is added as a harmony. Enjoy.

Noticed some minor differences in a few tune titles from the CD in my hand.

1. Hugo’s Big Reel
2. The Ditching Boy
4. A Girl in the War
6. Ghost of Tom Joad

Compliments on getting Sadhbh Ní Bhruineallaigh spelled right!

1. Thesession.org automatically removes words like "reel" or "jig" from submissions.
2. If it is the Richard Thompson song then the song is actually called The Poor Ditching Boy, regardless of what the cd in front of you says.
4/6. You are picking up on the words "A" and "The"? Really?
