Budget-price compilation from various recordings made in the early / mid 1970s, I would think.
Tracks 1 - 4 : The Dubliners
5-6 : The Grehan Sisters [ perfectly horrible. How on earth did they get a recording contract ? ]
7 - 10 : Finbar & Eddie Furey - OK, but they could have chosen far better tracks than these.
11 - 13 : Mick Moloney. Great banjo and mandolin playing.
14 - 16 : The Glenside Ceili Band - Run-of-the -mill ceili band.
17 - 19 : The Johnstons. great stuff from Mick Moloney again on the 2 instrumentals.
20 - 22 : The Kilfenora Ceili Band - Great reels, showing the Glenside Ceili Band how it should be done.
If you find this for a couple of quid, it’s well worth it, especially if you’re a beginner, looking to learn common session tunes.
