The Sound of Ireland CD3
Disc Three of a four CD compilation
Outlet
This would appear to be yet another compilation of tracks from the Belfast “Outlet” label’s recordings from the 1970s and 1980s. They are usually very cheap, and exceptionally good value.
It’s a fair guess that Track 5 will be “The Abbey Reel”, not “Rule”, and also Track 14 will start with “Farell O’Gara”, and not “Farewell Garrett”.
Performed by
1. ,5. Brian Vallely / Brian VallelyGroup
2. Na Fili
3. Tom McHaile
4. Seamus Tansey
6., 9., 12., 15. Finbar Dwyer
7., 10., 13. Kevin Loughlin
8., 11., 14. John Whelan
Origins and typos
Hi Kenny - I will check the actual tunes and correct where possible - hint of optical character recognition or spell checker mischief perhaps.
Looking at the 4 cds as a whole and the number of contributing performers it does look like a re hash of some previous recordings, which a bit of digging might reveal the originals for.
In terms of value for money - yes worth picking up a copy - motorway services I think, I got mine (!) . I don’t think there are even any ’swaps with any of my others cds etc. Also - it wouldn’t be too hard to recollate e.g. bring all the Finbar Dwyers together and make a listening cd
Finbar Dwyer tunes from this compilation
From the listings on this site, most of the Finbar Dwyer tunes in this 4 cd compilation appear as if they could be from the album Kitty’s Rambles

“Kitty’s Rambles” is just the name given to the CD release of this :

And sorry to be pedantic, “Eachann”, but please note that “Finbarr” Dwyer’s name appears to be spelt with 2 “Rs”, at least that’s how it’s spelt on the Outlet LPs, and 1 cassette.
