Track 11: Reels - The Virginia / Trim the Velvet

“I recorded this last summer, no recording company involved, all totally independently done. I decided to keep the recording simple, straightforward and raw as was the recording in 1981 (see below). This is why album is called ‘Basically’. It was recorded in a friend’s home recording studio, mostly in the evenings after work.

I had wanted to make another album for a long time but just never got around to it. I suppose life in general and working to make a living and having a family all took over. In the meantime I played in sessions, practiced at home, and actually stopped playing alltogether for a number of years (dont really know why).

I have had great help and support from my wife, who did the sleeve artwork, and my two sons, fantastic musicians, so a big thank you to them. I really hope you like the music and thank you for listening.“ ~ Robert ‘Robbie’ MacGowran
