Handful Of Earth

Very surprised to find that no-one had posted this recording. It was voted as best "Folk" album of the decade - it was released in 1981 ] by "Folk Roots" magazine in 1990, which was quite an achievement. It marked the departure - more or less - between Dick Gaughan and the traditional Scottish songs which he sang better than just about anyone else around at the time, and indicated his future direction as a more political commentator, performing songs by contemporary writers, and indeed as a song-writer himself.
Great accompaniment by Phil Cunningham, Brian MacNeill and Stewart Isbister.

One of my all time favourite albums. He has had many fine albums since then but none that have bettered it.

kenny

He made even better ones before it.
