Re: Farewell to Decorum
Singaporean pop singer Richard "Dick" Lee Peng Boon probably didn’t have much to do with this recording. The man you want is :
A fine biography - Arrest this moment - of the album producer, Michael Marra quotes the sleeve notes :
A good producer always heats the pot first, then into the jungle with Hamish and Dick, Specky Knobbage and a thousand switches, hunders of k-bytes and old heiroglyphics, battling monsters and mounted polis to rescue the pipes from the warlords and hurl the blues at the sun and moon.
These sessions were precious. Sometimes I left my shoes at the door. The players all excelled in skill and spirit and the music was an adventure. All this is as it should be, and long may these men hurl.
Can’t find any mention of Michael Marra on The Session which is curious. A Dundee man but of County Cavan extraction he was a major talent. All his recordings have been rereleased on download. High Sobriety (Live at the Bonar Hall) is a great place to start.
