The McPeake Family…
I bought this record from a charity shop in Perth [ Scotland ] just about a year ago, for a bit of a joke. I was helping out at Dougie MacLean’s 2014 "Perthshire Amber" festival along with Cape Breton singer-songwriter Buddy MacDonald, and Buddy had mentioned meeting the MacPeakes many years ago.
The MacPeake family, as "Scutcher" says in the comments he posted along with another of their recordings here, were massively popular in the 1960s, but I have to say that in my opinion, the music here does sound very dated, and "of its’ time". Fair play to them, though, as I believe they’ve done a huge amount of work in promoting Irish traditional music in Belfast over the years.
There’s a very simple jig on this which I haven’t come across, and will post very soon - "Kitty’s Bonnet". It was worth buying the record for that 1 tune, [ and the charity benefitted from it as well, I suppose ].
