Ewan, Karen and Dan were thrown together at a pub garden session in Warwick at the 2013 folk festival. They managed to find a wealth of tunes in common and have been playing together ever since as Floot Street, delighting audiences with beautiful traditional music from all over Britain and beyond, performing imaginative arrangements and displaying stunning musicianship. All from musical families, they draw on rich and varied backgrounds; Dan with sister Susie as Danansooz and The QP. Ewan with Amaranth, Lazyman’s Flute and Dark Island; Karen with King Alfred’s Cakes. Now joined by Sam Mabbett on melodeon and fiddle and Luke Jones on bodhran, Floot Street have become a force to be reckoned with! Despite his tender years, Sam is already a well respected musician on the folk scene and has been nominated for the BBC Young Folk award along with Dylan Cairns-Howarth. Dan and Sam are also both regular performers with The Ship Band playing for ceilidhs and Luke is an accomplished and exciting percussionist who really gets your feet tapping!
Floot Street will be recording their first album early next year, but in the meantime here are some live videos to enjoy:
