I heard a lot of this band’s music last week at the 2015 "Perthshire Amber" festival, based around Dunkeld in Perthshire in central Scotland. Dougie MacLean had met them at a festival in the USA earlier this year, and liked them so much that he booked them to be the "resident" band for the week of the festival, hosting sessions and doing a few performances, culminating with an appearance before around 1,200 people at Perth Concert Theatre on Saturday night.
Much of the material on this CD is original, and because of the instrumentation, they reminded me a bit of "Solas". Good as the instrumentals are, the band’s strongest suit for me was the excellent vocals of Jack Badcock, and he has some great songs on this album. A band to watch out for.
