In memory of Andy…..
This was Andy M.’s first solo recording, after "Silly Wizard" split up. It was voted "Melody Maker’s" "Folk Album Of The Year" in 1993. Traditional songs from both Scotland and Ireland, and also a few self-penned originals, including what might be termed his "Greatest Hit", the wonderful "Ramblin’ Rover", which has been covered many times by singers from Scotland, Ireland [ "The Dubliners" ], and North America.
"The Curlew" is the bagpipe jig by Donald McPherson [ or at least, a version of it ], and not Josie Keegan’s reel of the same name which the "link" is going to.
