Re: Na Mooneys
Thanks very much for letting us know about this , Tony. Bought it, and am enjoying listening to it right now.
Re: Na Mooneys
Track #1 - “John Doherty’s” link is wrong. It’s a version of “Roxburgh Castle” :
https://thesession.org/tunes/4628
2nd tune, “Frankie Kennedy’s” is linking to a jig, but it’s a reel which I haven’t come across before.
Re: Na Mooneys
Very last tune I’d say is better-known as “The Swallow Tail” reel.
Overall this is a very fine recording, I especially liked the song duet “Máire Mhór”, and it’s great to hear a few more highlands [ Track 4 ] , and mazurkas [ Track 11 ].
Just wish I had the sleeve notes, but that’s downloads for you.
Re: Na Mooneys
The 2nd tune on track 15 is billed as being “The Queen of May” but it’s not the same tune as the one on the link - anybody have another title for it please (and a link to the sheet music here on The Session). Thanks.

Donegal Highland version of “The Devil In The Kitchen” :

Re: Na Mooneys
The second reel in No. 13 is not the “Queen of May” that is linked here. They introduce it as “Banríon na Bealtaine,” which is Irish for “Queen of May” but is the same tune as “The Titanic” reel on this site. They also call the first and third tunes by their Irish names, the last one being known as The Swallow Tail.
Re: Na Mooneys
The links for #1 are incorrect. “Frankie Kennedy’s” and “The Limerick Lass” both link to jigs, and these are reels.
Re: Na Mooneys
I just removed the links. If anyone can identify those tunes, that would be great.
