Re: Between the Jigs and Reels: A Retrospective
This CD and DVD retrospective compilation is out for fans. Trad purists may complain about the inclusion of harmonies, compositions, English songs and Balkan tunes, and even a Bob Dylan song - but the material stands on its own merits, as entertainment as well as excellent musicianship and tight group playing by this pioneering band. There are 53 total tracks here, 17 on the CD and 36 on the DVD. A gold mine for fans.
One small annoyance: even though the DVD is advertised as being “region free”, it would not play in my (U.S.) BluRay player. It does play just fine in my PC computer however.

Where is it available in the US?

I don’t know, but I bought mine on the Tower Records web site, and they air mailed it. Had it in hand a few days later - less than a week.

Re: Between the Jigs and Reels: A Retrospective
Today, November 25, is the official US release date. I just ordered it from Amazon Prime.
Re: Between the Jigs and Reels: A Retrospective
Actually, I have to amend my earlier comment. Although I did indeed order it from Amazon Prime, the day it was supposed to ship, Amazon changed the listing to “unavailable.” Then a few days later, it became “available” again, with the caveat that it ships “between one and two months” from order date. Not sure how that qualifies as Amazon Prime. Anyway, I was able to order it from Amoeba Music in San Francisco and got it in a week. However, I think I may have got the last one, as their website now shows it to be unavailable as well. Sorry about that.
In any event, the collection is amazing, and I hope you’re able to lay your hands on it at some point.
