The Sound Of The Sun by Fred Morrison
This is an album of the authentic piping. Though Fred Morrison was born in Glasgow, his style of piping is deeply rooted in the musical tradition of South Uist, Outer Hebrides, where his father originally comes from. It seems he also bring back not a few traditional Scottish tunes from Cape Breton.
The arrangement of the recording is quite simple, but Fred Morrison’s pipes and low whistle playings really stand out. His piping is steady but amazingly impulsive, while, by contrast, he plays slow airs on the low whistle lyrically. His style of uillean piping is also unique and remarkable.
Looking for a tune’s recording …
On Youtube there is a wonderfully played tune on the Low wistle by Mr Fred Morrison in Edinbourgh in 2009. Would anyone know if there is any other recordings of this set of tunes and perhaps their names ….
Thanks !!!
Suggestion….
Might help if you posted a link here to the "Youtube" clip, otherwise we’re just guessing.
