Re: Afterlight

Truly excellent new CD from a fabulous group of Glasgow-based musicians although they hail from all corners of the the UK and Ireland. The music is a mixture of recent compositions (including their own) and traditional, but has a beautiful lyrical quality, and is real breath of fresh air if anyone is looking for a bit of the ‘pure drop’ sound, with the consummate ease that the best of modern playing brings. The musicianship is of the highest quality and flows effortlessly: the only problem is they’re all too young for it to be allowed! They have all been, and are, involved in other groups (e.g. Mànran, Rura, Talisk, and Barrule) but I think have created a really strong unique sound here.

They are:
Mohsen Amini - concertina
Adam Brown - bodhran/guitar
Tomas Callister - fiddle
Ryan Murphy - flute/uilleann pipes/whistle
Adam Rhodes - bouzouki
