Re: The Wylde Flute
This is an old CD I found in my collection that the late Jimmy Young gave me many years ago. It seems to be really hard (if not impossible) to find now, and was released by Jimmy in roughly 2005, and comprises a mix of studio and live tracks which mainly concentrate on Jimmy’s powerful flute playing. As such it is a rare archive of his flute style, as most of his main recording output was on the pipes.
The CD is dedicated to Jimmy’s early teacher, Jimmy McHugh from Glasgow. A number of the tunes are compositions of Jimmy’s, and he is joined by many musical collaborators, including Davy Stewart, Denny Stanway (of Rua), Iain Macleod (of The House Band, Shooglenifty and Rua), Dave Robb (of Rua), Chic MacAuley (of Rua), James MacIntosh (Shooglenifty), Ged Foley and Chris Parkinson (both House Band etc.).
As has already been indicated elsewhere, Jimmy died recently.
Re: The Wylde Flute
Sorry I inadvertently missed off a few musicians from the list above, namely one of Jimmy’s long term collaborators James Wilkinson, plus Mike Considine, Jon Hooker, and Mathew Lawrence.

Yeah, looks impossible to find. Let me know if a CD pops up anywhere.
Re: The Wylde Flute
Jimmy kept this one a secret - never knew it existed. I found an old snap from the Newcastleton Traditional Music Festival - I think from 1977 - with Jimmy in it, so I’ve added it to the photos at the foot of the home page.
