From the bandcamp page notes:

Isaac Alderson - flute, tenor saxophone
Dylan Foley - fiddle
Special guest Matt Mancuso - trumpet

"This album was recorded over two sessions in a tiny little apartment known affectionately throughout the Irish music world as The Palace, where the imported house bands who play at John D. McGurk’s Irish Pub in St. Louis stay while playing evening gigs over multi-week stretches. This album is presented in its rawest form: no edits, only a tiny bit of EQ, and the tracks presented mainly in the order in which they were recorded. All of the selections are performed on flute and fiddle, except for the final track, which features a tuned-down fiddle, tenor saxophone, and trumpet played by special guest Matt Mancuso.

In light of the recent natural disasters which have occurred in Mexico and Puerto Rico, we are committed to donating the proceeds of online sales of this recording to relief efforts in both of those affected areas while those efforts are pressing. Half of the money generated here will go to Fondo Unido México / United Way México, and the other half will go to Unidos por Puerto Rico / United for Puerto Rico, until it is deemed that relief efforts have been sufficiently funded. We will publish donation receipts online so that all purchasers/donators can be assured that their money is going to the causes we are supporting. Thank you for your support! Let’s all try to do some good in the world!"

Re: The Palace Sessions

Not sure I’ve heard a more enjoyable Irish music release this year. Can’t overstate how good this album is.

Re: The Palace Sessions

Shouldn’t it be ‘The Ballyvourney’? I’d guess that ‘Denis Murphy’s’ is the polka, not the reel to which its currently linked.

Re: The Palace Sessions

‘It’s’ not ‘its’.

Re: The Palace Sessions

Gonzo, Kenny, feel free to edit any of the tune links.

Re: The Palace Sessions

I sorted the reels’ links 2 days ago. I was able to listen to the tracks through "Bandcamp", - and the playing is very good indeed.
The 2 polkas on track #11 will be here somewhere, but I’m not so good on polka titles, for some reason. I’ll leave that to "Gonzo". :)

Re: The Palace Sessions

It really is a wonderful recording, isn’t it?

Re: The Palace Sessions

Great duet playing.

NB the tune they name as Palm Sunday is actually The Humours of Kiltyclogher.

Re: The Palace Sessions

I bow to everyone else’s superior knowledge - I just typed the track titles in as they were listed! Was preoccupied tapping my feet and grinning from ear to ear at the music, to be honest.

Re: The Palace Sessions

I’ve amended one tune title, but, not having the recording, I don’t know which of the various polkas called ‘Denis Murphy’s’ is the one played on this album.

Re: The Palace Sessions

@Gonzo - you can hear all of the tracks through the "Bandcamp" link.

Re: The Palace Sessions

The "Danny Meehan’s" link was wrong - the tune played is the Donegal version of the S|cottish reel "Rachel Rae", recorded by Frankie and Mairead at some point.

Re: The Palace Sessions

Yes, I know, Kenny, but I’m busy with all sorts of things at the moment.

Re: The Palace Sessions

Me too - but I’ll try to track it down. All the best. Kenny

Re: The Palace Sessions

Sorted - "Dennis Murphy’s" polka on track #11 is more commonly known as "Johnny O’Leary’s", the one which was recorded by "De Danann" on "The Mist Covered Mountain". Link is now correct.
