Re: Back To The Island

A long time coming since "Shadows Of Stone", but well worth the wait. A great selection of tunes, nearly all traditional, but with a few more recent tunes from composers such as Vincent Broderick and Eileen O’Brien. Track #14 consists of 2 original compositions. Some fairly challenging tunes tackled too, such as "The Second Star", and the Scottish selection of reels on track #7, none of which could be called exactly "flute-friendly".
Accompaniments by Arty McGlynn [ guitar ], Brian McGrath [ keyboard ] and Joe McNulty [ bodhran ].
Molloy’s still the "boss" - and just in time for Christmas !

Re: Back To The Island

Review: "The tunes on Back To The Island (only his fourth solo album) are firmly in the traditional idiom – Molloy describes them as being ‘as old as the ditch".

I count 5:
1. Matt Molloy – 1976
2. The Heathery Breeze – 1981
3. Stony Steps – 1987
4. Shadows on Stone – 1997
5. Back To The Island – 2018
