Re: The Old Scottish Dance Bands (Volume 1)
Track 8, given as “The K.O.S. Bies” is named for the King’s Own Scottish Borderers, a regiment founded in 1689 and popularly known as “The KOSBies”. It looks a bit funny the way it’s written above, although I know it was written that way on the original Shand recording from 1956. The tune which follows is similarly named for the Highland Light Infantry, formed in 1881.
