Re: End of Autumn
Released on the Malgamú Music label in 1998, this album features the guitar (and bass on track 5) of Dubliner Seán Whelan.
He composed the tunes on tracks 4, 6, and 8, and co-wrote 3 with Alan Murray. The latter was also responsible for 11.
‘Price of a Pint’ was written by Paul Kelly. Track 5 features a Breton Gymnaska dance learned from the playing of accordionist Michel Phillipot. Track 7 is a re-working of the Dave Brubeck jazz classic.
Tracks 9 and 10 are Carolan pieces. Track 12 was composed by Didier Roussin. 14 was written in 1896 by Francisco Tarrega (and is usually spelled ‘Recuerdos’).
The last track tunes from Moldavia and Poland.
