Re: The Drôle

A gentle, swaying album in the tradition of ‘The Smoky Chimney’, this was released in 2013 and features the County Longford fiddler Éamon McGivney, fiddler John Kelly (brother of James and son of the late John sr.), and Peadar Ó Riada (son of Seán) on concertina.

Track 3’s full title is ‘The Seán Ó Riada Waltz’ and comes from a manuscript given by Peadar’s father to John’s and was found by John Kelly jr. in his father’s copy of ‘O’Neill’s 1001 Gems of Irish Music’. It is thought to have been composed by Seán in the first half of the 1950s.

The first part of ‘The Kelly Ó Riada Waltz’ was composed by Seán and the second by John Kelly sr.

Re: The Drôle

I’ve linked the first of the Mrs Galvin’s flings to the recording here. The second one is this one https://thesession.org/tunes/624. A pair of really nice tunes played with a lively lift on the recording.
