Re: Carlos Sweeney McCartin
This, by the way, is a mighty CD. Bought it on a hunch. Top drawer playing, great feel and so together.
Got really good sets. Really no fluff on this CD at all. Usually there’ll be a couple of sets minimum per CD that you just never listen to. Not here.
And even tho ‘no fancy stuff’, i like things like playing the Castle before the Green Fields of Woodford. e.g. the Teetotallers and Island Eddy, play them the other way round. I hope that was intentional, because it made me grin.
Know nothing about the musicians, tho.

Friend posted on Facebook something about this album and I can’t stop listening to this album! Has both a modern and old feel to it and it just works! It’s been a while since I whole heartedly enjoyed every set on an album.

Thank you for your kind words.
Delighted to say the iTunes issue is now fixed, so track 9 and 10 are exactly as they should be, and the album in it’s entirety is available worldwide

Picked this up at the Fleadh 2019. The flute and fiddle players are Fleadh Senior champions of recent years and it shows. The accompaniment is as good as you’d ever hear. You only have to look at the names on there to understand why this should be. This seems to be a low key release but is as good a trad album as I’ve ever heard. Absolute cracker!
Re: Carlos Sweeney McCartin
Just have to agree with all the above. Absolutely no ‘duff’ tracks. All are reasonably well kwon session tunes, and played fairly straight, but all the better for that. Still manages to sound fresh and very listenable. Perfect music for those who enjoy with playing along with a groups of top players (e.g. much better than me)
Re: Carlos Sweeney McCartin
Track 3-2 ‘Bill The Weaver’. Linked to the polka usually associated with this name. Just changed link to jig usually known as “Cheer Up Old Hag” (think that’s what it is ?)
Just been having a ‘free’ listen (and ‘play along’) on Spotify. Only one track is available to listen to on Bandcamp, However, I believe that if you buy download from Bandcamp, they possibly receive higher percentage of payment than other download sites ? (Is this so?)
Re: Carlos Sweeney McCartin
Loving this.
Its timeless and always up to date.

Feckin’ great album, listening to it on loop. Great playing that is dripping in style and grace and not overly arranged.
