Re: Searbh Siúcra

Wonderful fiddle playing by Éilís Crean. Her guests are Mike McGoldrick and Neansaí Ní Choisdealbha on the flute and John Regan on the box for the melodic part; John Doyle, Jeff Taylor and John Mock for the accompaniment (most of the tracks would be better off without it if you ask me, but anyway). Like in her previous album (The Lonesome Fiddler, 2014), this one (2017) is a homage East Galway music, specifically the compositions of Eddie Kelly and Paddy Fahey.

Some bloke called Kevin Burke also plays fiddle on tracks 5, 12 and 16 (and recounts his own discovery of Eddie’s music as a teenager in London) . Geraldine Cotter also supplies piano on a couple of tracks. Mike and Neansaí are playing whistles not flutes.
