Re: The Dublin Lasses

The Dublin Lasses are Aoife O’Connor (concertina), Majella O’Beirne (flutes and whistle), and Mary Corcoran (piano), and they have put together a lovely album of music played with great artistry and spirit. The ensemble playing is tight and clean, and the instruments combine beautifully. The liner notes are written by Mick O’Connor and are full of details including that a number of tunes are from the 1909 collection of P. W. Joyce, ‘Old Irish Folk Music and Songs: A Collection of Airs and Songs Hitherto Unpublished’ and are recorded here commercially for the first time.

Vincent Broderick’s Barndances are also known as Around the Fairy Fort and The New Broom. Eddie Duffy’s Barndances are also known as Jimmy Duffy’s Barndances No. 1 and No. 2.

Re: The Dublin Lasses

I play something very similar to ‘The Road to Glencar’ as O’Gorman’s, and didier has provided a transcription of the tune as setting 9 of Throw Away the Keys’: https://thesession.org/tunes/1540. The liner notes attribute this version to John Joe Henry of Doncastle.
