Re: Fenwicks Window
Looks like this is available on Amazon but not iTunes (very unusual, that rarely happens and it’s usually the other way around).
I came across this recording because I was interested in listening to some more John Doonan (I like his LP “Lark in the Clear Air” and also know that he at some points was a Ranter for the High Level Ranters, one of my favorite groups).
Re: Fenwicks Window
Star of the County Down is an all-time favourite for me. There seem to be loads of different variations on it but most work well. John Doonan is new to me, thanks.
Re: Fenwicks Window
He was from Newcastle but had Irish parents so mostly played ITM, except for his occasional participation with the High Level Ranters. He passed away in 2002, but was the original founder of their family band. I believe he’s on this album as it was released before his death, but since then the family have continued their band and releasing more albums.
Re: Fenwicks Window
“I believe he’s on this album …. ” So you haven’t actually heard it then ?
“Lark In The Clear Air” was not “his” album, he was one of several contributers to it, playing on perhaps 1/3 of the tracks, [ from memory ].
