Re: Carnloch
Released in 1993 on their own Durham Street label, Carnloch consisted of Noel McQuaid (tenor banjo, bouzouki, mandolin), Sarah McQuaid (vocals, guitar, bodhrán and úbh) and Larry Nugent (flute and tin whistle).
Noel runs McQuaid’s music shop in Nenagh (http://mcquaidsirishmusic.com/). Sarah’s the Madrid-born, Chicago -raised singer and musician who wrote ‘The Irish DADGAD Guitar Book’ and Larry’s the Fermanagh-born musician and son of Seán (who wrote ‘The Monument’ and ‘Lament for a Fiddle Player’ on this album).
It’s actually a stonking album and features tremendous interplay between Noel and Larry, with excellent backing and sultry vocals from Sarah.
