Albums of (mainly) songs rarely feature in the listings here, which is something of a pity. O’Donoghue’s first(?) solo outing is a real gem. Highlights for me are The Scariff Martyrs - great use of pipes; The Newlyn Highwayman and The Recruited Collier/Christmas Eve.
He played with Siobhan Peoples & Murty Ryan last month in The Lobby Bar(Cork) and they were excellent. He sang a couple of songs outside of backing the fiddle and box and sounded great(even if i was half cut!).
