Re: Breath-Taking
Have you bought it and listened to it ? The reason I ask is that all you have done is posted the single tune titles as listed on Bandcamp. I’m about to buy the CD, having heard Anthony in sessions 20 years ago at the Willie Clancy Week. A great flute player, and I’m looking forward to hearing this recording.
The first track has 3 jigs on it, for instance, not just Banish Misfortune.
Re: Breath-Taking
Filled in. The tunes were given on the individual track pages e.g. https://anthonyquigney.bandcamp.com/track/banish-misfortune
Re: Breath-Taking
you beat me to it (adding this album on thesession) - bought it a couple of days ago.
Re: Breath-Taking
Just wondering whether ‘Bean Bháidín’ should actually be ‘Bean Pháidín’?
Re: Breath-Taking
Certainly should. I think we can assume it’s a typo. I won’t change it but will create a link.
I found another 5 tunes nobody had listed above, and have added them.
Lovely playing on this recording, a fine mix of traditional and recently-composed tunes, and I particularly like the fact that Anthony hasn’t gone overboard on the number of “guest” musicians. One or two expert accompanists, that’s all you need.
Recommended Christmas present for anyone with an interest in Irish traditional music.
PS - good to hear that Gordon Duncan’s “Sleeping Tune” has wended its’ way over to North Clare.
