Not entirely Irish but… close enough for Arizona

Every Thursday night 7 pm, the Flagstaff Friends Of Traditional Music contra dance band rehearsal. The Just Desserts Band is the House band for the Flagstaff contra dances every other month. Rehearsals are open to anyone who wants to play or listen to contra dance tunes. The Portland Collection is currently the anthology of choice, although there is a public binder full of tunes from gigs past. Any instrument and playing ability is welcome. Instruments include banjo, fiddle, guitar, concertina, accordion, piano, bass, flute/whistle, bodhran, Appalachian dulcimer, also found instruments including car horn & musical saw, if you ask Eric politely. The name comes from the fact that the real reason we gather every Thursday, is for the purpose of eating fabulous desserts afterward. Rehearsal starts at 7 PM at the home of Eric Souders, where he also raises llamas. No, I’m not kidding. He also weaves their hair into hats if you want to buy one.

Is your mama a llama?

This session has been moved to a different private residence…. I don’t know any of the details, but you could contact Eric through the posted website.

Re: Azimuth Ranch

It’s clear from the website that this is a band practice rather than a session.
