AOH Brown St. Session

This session was originally held at 941 Kenmore Blvd. in Akron and had been there for about 15 years. The AOH club has moved and the session moved with it. The Session starts at about 8pm and goes for at least 2 hours and often more. There is a bar at the site. All instruments welcome. The session is not particularly fast and is a good place to learn new tumes and meet kindred spirits.

Good time!

My 11-year old daughter (on violin) and I (on mandolin, sorta!) have been to this one a couple times. Its a great place for beginners because they start off a little slower at first and the people are really friendly. Once they get moving, if you can’t keep up it’s nice to watch and learn from the people around you.

A lot of the regulars also play together publicly occasionally, like they will be in Cuyahoga Falls this Saturday.

Updated place and time

This session has moved from the Ancient Order of Hibernians on Brown St. Akron to The Unitarian/Universalist Church in Fairlawn Ohio. The address is 3300 Morewood Ave in Fairlawn ( a suburb of Akron, Ohio). We are starting at about 7:30pm every Weds and go to about 9:30 or 10:00. Everyone welcome! All skill levels and pretty much any instruments ( the saxophone did not work out so well though) There is a sign in side the entrance of the church indicating which room we are in. Hope to see you there. Bring your own refreshments though alcohol is not permitted.

Re: Mercedes’ Neighborhood Tavern

This session has been on Wednesday evenings 20 plus years. Due our recent move to a new home it has now been changed to Monday evenings to accommodate our new venue. I’m sure my Dad would approve the changes. We do appreciate the UU church for offering us space when we needed it, thank you
