Mulligans Tune Learning 6-8 pm 4th Wed

This is a slow tune learning session held on the 4th Wed of the month. We teach 1-2 tunes and go over previously taught tunes. We also give people a chance to try out leading sets by starting tunes and changing tunes in a set to get more practice. We start at 6 pm and usually finish about 8 pm. This is perfect for folks who are proficient on an instrument and want to increase their repertoire or get better at learning by ear. We also hold an intermediate/advanced session on the 1st and 3rd Wed at Mulligans at 7 pm, usually ending around 10-10:30pm. If there is a 5th Wed in the month we often have an extra session.

Re: Mulligan’s Pub Session now EVERY Wednesday

The Mulligan’s Pub Irish Session is back to EVERY Wednesday from 7-10:30 pm, sometimes later. The Tune Swap (formerly slow tune session) is now weekly, just before the main session from 6-7 pm in the Dublin Room at Mulligan’s. The format of the Tune Swap is open depending on who comes and what they need. We may teach a new tune slowly in phrases, play some newer tunes at slower speeds, work on trouble spots, or swap new tunes on the fly. The Tune Swap is behind closed doors where mistakes are ok! This is a great time for folks with a limited number of tunes, not quite up to full speed, or needing more confidence to start/change tunes in public, to increase their repertoire and come up to speed while playing with others, while enjoying a pint and/or dinner if desired.

Mulligan’s Pub & Sports Club

This is a traditional Irish Session that also offers some occasional Scottish and Cape Britain Flair. The Mulligan’s Session is comprised of vibrant, fun and talented musicians that have been playing together for years - and the tunes are always changing - as the Sessional leader, Tasha Carr, has a Set List of around 400 tunes. Mulligan’s Pub offers a great atmosphere that is a "split" venue - with a bar on one side (very well separated) and a family-friendly restaurant on the other, where the Session plays in a raised alcove by entrance.

Intermediate - Advanced
This is an intermediate-advanced Session. Tunes can be fast, furious and rousing. The Session is held every Wednesday night from 7:00 - 10:00 PM w/a unique, slow, tune-learning opportunity from 6:00-7:00 PM. This Session welcomes beginners, however if you do not know the tune, you are STRONGLY encouraged to listen - and not play. There are many nights when this group will also break into a delightful song. No sheet music is allowed at this Session.

Musicians interested in playing at this Session are encouraged to first reach out and introduce themselves on the Fort Collins Irish Session Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/661716220544337/

_____________________________
The Mulligan’s Session routinely hosts Irish music concerts, the next one being ‘The Here and Now’ House Concert at Mulligan’s, August 10, 2018. Also, the Fort Collins Session has brought together musicians that have formed a celtic folk group called "Once Upon a Tune." The group performs locally in Loveland, Fort Collins and surrounding areas.

JOINT SESSION NOTICE 6/1/18:
Beginning 6/11/18, Musicians from the Fort Collins and Laramie Sessions will be forming a Session at The Forks 287 in Livermore, (a historic landmark) the second Monday of each month during the summer, from 6:30-9:00 PM.
