The Groton Session now at The Billiards Cafe in Ayer, MA every Wednesday at 7 pm.

We have a room down the hall from the main billiards room where the session has been going strong in this location for three years now. We typically attract 10 to 12 people, some arriving as late as 8:15. This is not a melody only session. You’ll hear occasional old-timey tunes and Québécois, but mostly the standard traditional Irish jigs and reels. The billiard hall has beer and you’ll find Smithwick’s and Guinness on tap as well as a half dozen others. The chairs supplied are not comfortable, so you may want to bring a portable one, or some cushions. A couple recent tunes include some slides: Going to the Well for Water, Merrily Kiss the Quaker, and Star Above the Garter, and a single reel, Jamie Allen. We’ve also been working up Trip to Durrow and The Otter’s Holt. Check the website http://www.thegrotonsession.com for older set lists.

The Groton Session now at the “19 Carter Center” in Berlin, MA on Wednesday at 7 pm

We’ve moved again. We are now at the beautiful “19 Carter Center”, a former church building lovingly renovated into a community center. Typically, 10-12 musicians attend, but there is lots of space for many more. Beginners as well as experienced musicians and listeners are welcome. Care is taken to orchestrate the session around the complement of players that show up. Come join us for a good time!

We meet at 19 Carter most Wednesdays, but there is always the possibility of an occasional change in schedule or location. So please contact us to get on the mailing list for the latest information.

Check out the website for our location, which has many other events: https://19carter.org/
