Bee Hive Bar Session
A small friendly session led by box player Donna Harkin. Starts about 10pm and runs until 1am or so. Visiting traditional musicians and singers are very welcome.
Still going strong
In fact stronger. Because it is now known as a regular session many of the big Donegal names drop in if they have a free Friday night but still feel the need for a few tunes. Add to that, visiting musicians from various parts of Northern Ireland, Europe and America and you never know what sort of night you’re in for. Some nights are small and quiet, others are big, manic and noisy but all are great crack. If you are in the area make sure you call in. But for those not versed in Ardara ways, 10pm is a flexible time. It can slip back but rarely slips forward 🙂
More music in the Beehive
During the summer of 2014 there will be a session six nights per week starting between 9 and 9.30pm. Led by Aiofe Feeney (fiddle) and Sean Kearns (bouzouki and song). Visiting musicians of all standards are welcome. Thanks to Aoife’s encouragement one french lady recently played her accordion in public for the first time. You couldn’t get more welcoming that that. 🙂 On other nights some of Donegal’s best musicians drop in unexpectedly.
I was about to add ~ ‘six nights & weekly’!
Very friendly bar and friendly session.
Winter session regime now in place.
During the winter there is normally only a session of Friday nights…. and it mightn’t start until around 10pm.
However, impromptu sessions have been know to start at other times of the week-end so if you are passing, take a look in just in case.
