Carlene & Goretti now at The Nightingale

Following the departure of Stephen at the end of 2008, we’ve been joined by Carlene Anglim (fiddle) and Goretti Anglim (flute). They have taken the sessionto new heights with their wide selection of tunes adding to Mick’s favourites.

nice tunes, nice boozer, surprisingly quaint corner of otherwise skanky east london.

no need (room…?) to play fast.
good musicianship.

if you leave at 11.30 you still have time to get a tube back west.

Very Friendly Session…

…still going strong as of October, 2013. On the night a stray Bostonian blew in the music didn’t actually begin until something like 9:30…and went until midnight. This is WAAAY out there, folks, if you’re staying in the City centre — so pay heed to that admonition to leave at 11:30…if you can pull yourself away. Or have the friendly barmaid call you a cab at last call: the flat rate quoted, to Knightsbridge, was £30. Not an option for everyone, for sure; but some folks would pay that for many another evening of entertainment without blinking an eye. A nice crew playing good tunes at a dacent speed: reminds me of the old days. All ages, too: and supportive of young musicians. Highly recommended.

Re: The Nightingale

Called in last night, was made very welcome. Lovely playing at a nice pace, with an inclusive tune choice. Thanks.

Re: The Nightingale

Great session. Enthusiastic locals. I recently spent two months in London and called in every Wednesday. Always friendly and welcoming. As well as coming away with a bag of nice tunes they accommodated a few of my favourites. Special thanks to Mick Bailey, Mick O’Connor and Goretti. Hope to visit again some day.
