The Limerick Pub

This is a fairly new session at a fairly new pub. It’s the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, from 8pm until about 11pm. It’s led by Mitch Fanning (fiddle) and Zan McLeod (guitar). It’s a welcoming group, though tunes tend to run intermediate-to-advanced in terms of skill. High times, mighty tunes, and good spirits all around!

I visited last Wednesday, Philippe Varlet was leading in Match and Zan’s absence, it was a great session, I was blown away by the standard, they welcomed a song or two and encouraged newcomers’ involvement :-)

Alternating Leader

Usually, Mitch Fanning and Zan McLeod lead it on the first and third Wednesday of the month (and fifth Wednesday, as well), and Phillippe Varlet on the second and fourth Wednesdays.

A great session, in general. Near the Wheaton Metro Station (Red Line), and not too far off the I495 beltway.

Re: The Limerick Pub

Just to provide an up to date note, NorthEagle’s comment above is still true. I’ve dropped in more than once when Philippe is leading, he was my teacher and I like getting to play with him again. Small session but friendly and relaxed.

Re: The Limerick Pub

I got confused with who leads the session and when… will there be session this next Wednesday April 12th?

I’ll be around the area
