Volunteers Arms York
This is a new session starting Thursday 29th November 2012, and will be on a monthly basis ie. the last Thursday of each month. 8pm start time.
This is aimed at being a mixed tunes/genres session (no songs), with types of tunes entirely dependant on those turning up.
The “Vollies” is one of Yorks best real ale pubs, a bit of a hidden gem away from the tourist trail.
Thanks all those who came to the inaugural session: there were 20 players in all ,good selection of instruments, some cracking tunes & continual music all evening. Next one Thursday 27th December and confirmation from landlady that we can make it regular monthly event.

Why didn’t I hear about this? All I’ve got to do now is get permission from SWMBO and the world’s my lobster. Last Thursday in the month! I SHALL remember!

Parking
Street parking available in this & adjacent streets, also church car park opposite pub which I think customers are allowed to use (best check with bar staff about this in case their agreement has changed).
Boxing Day Session
Just to confirm that the pub is open on .Boxing Day night for our regular session
My mistake : December’s session will not happen as it falls on xmas day, not boxing day as previously stated, and the pub’s shut! See you all last Thursday in January….

Session will not happen this month as it falls on New Years Eve - back again last Thursday of January. Thanks all have have supported this session throughout 2015, regulars & visitors alike - Happy Christmas & New Year to one & all!

As with majority of sessions, this is temporarily suspended due to coronavirus, we hope to restart once pub is reopened, if it survives. MEANWHILE looking to start at new social distance appropriate venue with more space, sometime soon, so watch this space.

This session has now moved to the Fox pub further down Holgate Road.
