The Prince Albert
Lovely, friendly session. welcomes all levels of players. Mostly Irish tunes and songs but really anything goes. Starts 9-30 ish
Mick o’Connor is a regular and the landlord is fantastic.
Revitalising The Prince Albert
The Thursday Session at the Prince Albert has been going for about 4 years now- it’s a lovely pub and musicians are well looked after by Mick the landlord. It’s had a bit of a name as a late session which I think puts some people off - especially players from central London who find it hard to get home from . In order to give it a kick up the arse and maybe attract more players we are going start much earlier ( 9 .00 ) and finish in time to get the last train back .
So a` cordial welcome to any players who fancy the craic and and free beer. come and help us get our session cooking again.

Worst pub ever
i’ve been to a few pubs in my time, but this one is the pits! The landlord is misserable, and as rude as they come. I would rather buy a beer from the off license then spend my money here. If you’re in the area, and want a friendly atmosphere then goto the Nelson, and stay away from the losers who run this place!!!!!
Prince Albert still going strong
Visited last week and found a very good session. Busy with a friendly crowd who were enthusiastic about the tunes and quiet for the songs. Plenty of drinks for the musicians (about 8 of these and a good mix of banjo, flute, fiddle, box, guitar, concertina..). Dunno what the previous poster was on; maybe the landlord of an empty competing pub nearby???
Main grouse - it really is a late start - almost 10pm, and when I got away about 00.45 it was still going. Not one for working the next day then.
The Prince Albert
Thanks for that report, Helena.
My sister lives right opposite this pub and I always stay with her now whenever I´m in London. It´s just that my visits have never coincided with a Thursday night. I believe that Mick O´Connor is a regular there, so that´s another good reason for going, as he´s an old friend of mine.
I´ll be in London in early June for a wedding and I´ll try and work it so that I arrive on the Thursday.
I hope you´ll be able to come. It´s always interesting meeting another concertina player.
The Prince Albert, Whitton
Just a reminder that this session is alive and well.
I called in on a thursday night over the New Year holiday period and found Mick O´Connor and a handful of fine musicians.
Atmosphere very friendly and welcoming. Special mention should be made of the guvnor, Mick McCarthy. I have seldom come across such a generous landlord with a great love for the music.
Visiting 11th July 2013
I’ll be in whitton Thursday 11th July with my fiddle in hand. Is the session in the Prince Albert on?
Still Going Strong!!
Too late a reply for Johnny Mac I know, but this session is still going very strong. Great pub, great beer, great session, great staff and great locals. And The Bard of Kilburn Himself on banjo! What more could you be after? Yeah it’s late for a “school night” but you only pass this way the once. Get yourself there!
Still going strong?
Does anyone know if this session is still going?
Yes. Took a break over Christmas / New Year but starts again 7/1/16. Mick O’Connor is there every Thursday and it is a very welcoming session. New musicians are always welcome.

Re: The Prince Albert
With reference to a current discussion on keeping people informed about the sessions which are on/off.
This one is still very much going strong. Great landlord who appreciates the music and fabulous bar staff who keep the musicians watered. Special mention to the head barman Jacob who helps make it a friendly and welcoming visit.
Still going on ’till the wee hours.

Re: The Prince Albert
I’ve been to this session a few times over the last couple of months while I’m visiting from New Zealand. It’s been great and I’ve been made very welcome.
Re: The Prince Albert
Hi, I’ve not been to a session with named lead musicians before, just the ones that are a bit more of a free-for-all. I’m a developing player with a few dozen Irish tunes on mando, Tenor Banjo, Octave Mando (which handy for backing). Is it worth me coming down?
