The Albany

Welcome to the session at The Albany!
This will be happening on the third Sunday of every month. It was previously run at The Roath Park but the pub got into difficulties last month and so the session finished.
We play traditional music from Ireland and Wales with occasional flirtations with the Scottish and French traditions and a wee bit of song to sweeten it all up.
We welcome visiting musicians, and if you can drop in some new tunes to entertain us then even better!
The pub is a good one and busy on a Sunday night because of the student life which adds to the atmosphere.
They do food if you want to make an evening of it and there is usually parking to be had in the surrounding streets. To guide you into Donald Street look for the Post Office in Albany Road and turn there. Details at http://www.cardiffpubs.co.uk/Pub.php?Pub=Albany.

As if once a month wasn’t enough? Demand is so high we added another Sunday. You can go to this on the first or third Sunday of every month now.

I’m planning to be in Cardiff on Easter Sunday - does anybody know whether this session will be on? Cheers!

We are restarting our Sessions on the first and third Sunday of the month. Many thanks to our host, Ben, and his team. The first session will be on Sunday 21st November 2021. Given that these are tentative steps to opening safely, if you are one of our regulars, please let Denis know by email if you will be attending. If you are new to this session and wish to attend, please leave a message here so that we can monitor numbers in order to maintain a safe environment. We will also keep an eye on updated Covid19 rules from the Welsh Government.

A successful first session back at The Albany! Fourteen musicians were in great form. Great feedback from the locals. Our next session will be Sunday 5th December at 8pm. Leave a message here if your thinking of attending. Take care.

Is the session today or next week? I phoned the pub and they said it would take place on the 2nd and 4th Sundays. Can you please clarify? Thanks.

My apologies for not getting back to Dave McAdam! Our session is always on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. It will be on tonight, 3rd of July and all are welcome. Jim

Because the 1st Sunday in January 2023 is New Year’s Day, the Sessions will be on Sunday 8th and Sunday 15th January. From February, we will revert back to the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. Nollaig shona daoibh!

No session tonight 12th. Next Sunday is okay. The sessions are on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month.
