The Great North Railway Tavern

New Session starting this Monday 18/11/2013 19:30 onwards at The GNRT :-)

The pub is a large, clean, grade II listed building with wooden floors and high ceilings, 5 mins walk from Tunpike Lane tube (Picadilly Line) and Hornsey (National Rail). Also served by bus routes 41 and 144. Good selection of beers, wines and spirits and some good cask beer properly kept too!

Hosted by myself (accordion/bodhran), Fred (fiddle/guitar) and Adam (banjo/mandolin/bouzouki) playing predominantly Irish/Scottish music and song with the odd bit of something else thrown in.

OPEN SESSION, ALL WELCOME!

A flying start

Got off to a lovely start last night with x4 fiddles, and an accordion, banjo, mandolin, cittern, guitar and bodhran. Lots of lovely Irish, Scottish and Cape Breton tunes.

Landlady has said she will have Irish stew on next week for those who need the sustinence to see them through.

Shaping up to be a good one, hope you can make it sometime!

Still growing…

7 fiddles, banjo, mandolin, accordion, guitar (and some fine singing) and a set of pipes made for a lovely evening.

Many thanks to Holger who dropped in and gave us some lovely tunes on his way back to Germany after seeing the session listing on here. Isn’t it great when people blow in like that… :-)

A nice open sesh to go to on a Monday night

Still Going and growing

A couple of people had asked if we’d folded, the answer is no! Theres a growing crowd coming in for the music and a comfortable amount of lovely musicians turning up each week. Come on down!

Going strong

Come down again tonight for more tunes and fun. No signs of this crazy horse slowing any time soon folks

Still going strong!

We still get loads of great musicians at this weekly session so if you’re in the north London area of a Monday evening come and join us.

Session Defunckt

Hi everyone,
sad to say this session is no longer…..however, the good news is there is another one starting up about half a mile away on Wednesdays (for a minimum of six weeks from time of posting) - at the *Railway Tavern*, on Crouch Hill, 23 Crouch Hill, N4, (not to be confused with the Great Northern Railway Tavern) !
We had a fantastic time at the session listed here, thanks to everyone at the GNRT, and looking forward to more of the same, in the throbbing heart of crouch end, at the Railway, 23 Crouch Hill N4, wednesdays, an 8pm start !
