Mark’s place

We are an international group of musicians who play mainly celtic, but also other folk music. Core members play accordion, harp, fiddle (3), guitars, mandolin, concertina, whistle, bodhran, flute, rhythm guitar, cajon/spoons. We have spare instruments for visitors, including fiddle, whistles, melodeons, harps, concertinas, percussion and most others! All ages, currently from 20 to 80 (cajon player).
We meet once a week, and use ipads for our tunes until we learn them fully, and are a very friendly, comfortable, unthreatening group. Tourists who want to play with us as a one-off are very welcome. I just need to know which instrument to bring for you. If you need music, we can provide that too, given notice.
We are currently looking for another public venue, as our last pub one closed, but usually play publicly once a month. We have also played for local dances and events.
We have a lot of fun.

Visit in January

Hi Jaqui, I just dropped you a message to the inbox on your profile. Regards Graham.

Visit in January

Just to say I joined Jaqui and the other musicians at the session and really enjoyed it, (as did the rest of the holidaying group I was with). The fiddle provided suited me fine and they even changed the day of the session for me ! Thanks all for a great evening, we had lots of fun.

Re: Mark’s Place

Our week on Malta was enhanced by two lovely sessions with Jaqui, Laurence and friends. So welcoming, with a fine session vibe that even extended to the loan of instruments. We’d guess that everyone from lower intermediate to virtuoso would be welcome. The tunes were mainly Irish plus a few English and American. As with Graham, above, an extra session was even organised for our benefit too. “We have a lot of fun” is the session’s policy and practice!

Re: Mark’s Place

I’d love to play a session during my visit to Malta!
I’ll be there from 10 January 2020 to 24 January 2020. I’d have to juggle time and date to avoid conflict with concerts of the Valletta Baroque Music Festival.

Session Has Moved

We now meet every Tuesday, 7-9pm at The Craftsman Pub, Triq il-Port Ruman, Qawra, Malta
