The Magic Tree monthly Irish Trad session
This is a monthly session, 3rd Sunday of every month. Some of us get together for dinner (and an excellent selection of beer!) at 5 PM or so. Tunes happen from 6 PM till 8 PM.
Ours is a beginner-friendly session. Those still needing sheet music are welcome to download some of our favorite tunes from http://www.frankjbove.org/IrishMusic/IrishMusicSessiuinTunes_2009-09-20.pdf
and for most of the evening, tunes are announced. But of course, you’re encouraged to learn the tunes and play by ear! As always, melody instruments are particularly welcome.
The Magic Tree is a beautiful, modern pub and eatery run by fine folks who contribute a lot to the community. We feel lucky to be hosted here!

We have new tunebooks this year! Here are the links to three PDF files:
https://tinyurl.com/mahoning-tunebook
gets you the tunes arranged by type (hornpipes, jigs, reels etc.) and alphabetically within each type.
https://tinyurl.com/mahoning-sets
gets you some of those tunes arranged in our usual sets.
https://tinyurl.com/index-tunes-and-sets
is a two page index.
Re: The Magic Tree
Our normal session time for April, 2019 would have conflicted with Easter. And The Magic Tree will be closed that day.
So our session will be delayed a week, until April 28, 2019. See you then!
Re: The Magic Tree
March 15, 2020 our session will happen at Noon instead of 6 PM. Next month, we’ll be back to our normal schedule.
