Re: The Stanford Arms

PS - I went to check out The Stanford Arms today; it’s on a corner with some foxgloves growing opposite, which seemed to bode well. Lots of space inside & the bar staff very welcoming, and spoke highly of you! The notice on the door seemed to say that the finish time would be around 10.pm.

Looking forward to Monday. πŸ™‚

Re: The Stanford Arms

Thanks, Jim, for an exciting first session well-attended with great tunes and songs & a friendly vibe. We left at 10.30 but others may like to know that it went on until about 11.00.
Do come if you can - it is so worth it! πŸ™‚

Re: The Stanford Arms

In 2017, Stanford Arms Irish Session will be held on the last Monday of the month. There is additionally an open mic style acoustic session on the first Monday of the month.

Re: The Stanford Arms

28 June 2018 - as of tonight, the Celtic Session will take place from 8.00 pm or so on the last Thursday of each month.
This session has now been going for two years and I’ve had some great times attending it.

Re: The Stanford Arms

I would hope to come next Thursday (26th July ‘18.) But might mean not drinking any of those lovely ales as I’d have to get back to Dunwich. What time does it usually finish up at please?

Re: The Stanford Arms

It depends on who’s there. If there are lots of people enjoying playing, it goes on until 11 pm (but not later). Sometimes, though, if it suits the people who are there, it can break up at 10.00 or 10.30.

Re: The Stanford Arms

I may make it this Thursday armed only with a Yamaha Boehm flute though.

Re: The Stanford Arms

Hmm… I just called them to check if there would be a session on tonight (Thursday 29th Aug 2019 ie last Thursday of the month) - the lady said there wasn’t. So, can someone post to say if it’s still happening? Just as well I phoned as it’s maybe a 40 minute drive from Dunwich.

Re: The Stanford Arms

Ooh er! Danny! Lowestoft!
I lived there for nearly a year when I was a student (1973!) working at the MAFF plankton research lab. I was a bit of a biologist you know!
Played loads of stuff in lots of folk club type pubs in the area, Bungay, North Cove, Oulton Broad et cetera!
Have no info on this sesh though of course. Don’t even remember the pub!
Soon at the Blythe!!!
